                     Bergbaumuseum Leogang                   Show mine Leogang

Today you can see very little evidence of the great Salzburg mining tradition, since much has been concealed by buildings, or is overgrown with trees. However, in the district of Hütten in Leogang and in neighbouring Schwarzleo valley, old traces of the mining activities have been uncovered and made accessible to anyone interested. The Museum Association, other local associations, the municipal building yard and handicraft businesses in the region have made this possible with their tireless efforts and tremendous skills. The show mine and museum form a unit and, as a result, bring the everyday life of the ancestors to light. People come from far and wide to view the one-of-a-kind collection of Gothic Saint sculptures.
This great interest also contributes to the regional identity of mining history. Locals and visitors can stroll through the region with wide eyes and discover the numerous traces of the great past themselves. Tradition plays an important role in the local miners’ association. For special occasions, the music band marches out in full, traditional miner’s costume.
